ABOUT
THE COLLECTION
There have been seasons in my life that have stretched me in every way. There was loss of loved ones, growing pains in my personal journey of motherhood, and shedding expectations; from myself and others. Anxiety took a hold of me and there were times I wasn’t sure I’d shake it.
In an attempt to remove the pressure of what I was supposed to be feeling, I got quiet. I prayed. I cried. I was angry and confused. I took notice of things around me. Learned how to play again. Found joy again. Cried more. Prayed harder. I revisited work I was proud of and pieces I wasn’t so proud of. I tried new things, failed a few times. Tried again and surprised myself.
This body of work was made from broken pieces. Pieces that were made in a season of curiosity and vulnerability. What should’ve been discarded needed to breathe new life and tell a new story. Working abstractly helped me focus on the process and not the result. It was the release from perfectionism that I needed.
This collection is a reminder that all things (not all beautiful, perfect and curated things), but ALL things can be made new.
